Recycling in Alice Springs

Here’s a list of recycling options in town.

  • Cash for Containers operates out of Envirobank’s new depot on 33 Cameron St. You’ll get 10c for most bottles and drink cans. No spirit or wine bottles. Opening hours: Mon – Fri 8am-2pm.
  • Paper and Cardboard can be dropped of at Cleanaway, 6 Wilkinson St – just place in the big skip inside the gate. No glossy paper though.
  • Bottles, cans, and cardboard can be recycled at the Town Council Waste Facility, however there is a $3 charge for cardboard. 10c refund for spirit and wine bottles. Sat 8am-4pm only for refunds.
  • Computers and other e-waste can be recycled at the ASTC Waste Management Facility. There’s a charge for computers. See the full list here.
  • Russ Driver & Co accept glass, cans, and tins (but not plastics). 24 hour drop-off at Sargeant Street or call to arrange drums to be dropped off and collected.
  • Old phones, mobile batteries, chargers and accessories,wireless broadband devices can be recycled through Mobile Muster boxes at First National Framptons, Telstra shop, iGear, and Cartridge World. They can also be recycled through the ASTC Regional Waste Management Facility.
  • Scrap metal, motors (e.g. fridge, air con motors), lead acid batteries, radiators and more can be recycled through Anton’s recycling at Northline Transport, 6 McDonald St.  You’ll even get paid for dropping off some items! See the list here… Antons Recycling
  • Tyres can be taken to Alice Waste Disposal, 33 Cameron St for a cost of $recycle5 for car tyres and $12 for truck tyres.
  • Greenwaste can be taken to the Waste Management Facility landfill for free
  • TVs can be recycled for free – take them to Harvey Normans.
  • Territory Metals on 106 Smith Street will accept the following items:
    • Whitegoods
    • Scrap Metals
    • Gas Bottles
    • Vehicle Batteries
    • Batteries – Single Use
    • Batteries – Rechargeable
    • Fire Extinguishers
    • Aluminium Cans
    • Steel Paint Cans (empty)
    • Batteries – Disposable
    • Batteries – Rechargeable
