Food for Alice is a local food distribution project . We bring people together in order to create choices about where our food comes from. In other words, we buy and sell local food. We want to source higher quality food from more local, ethical suppliers than those currently available. We currently have a fortnightly farmers market stall at Eastside Pilates (opposite weekends to Todd Mall Markets) from 9am – 12pm. We have excellent produce and are looking for more growers every day. We share, swap, donate food where possible and our produce comes from private gardens and local producers
- We reduce food waste buy buying backyard excess like citrus and leafy greens
- We reduce food miles buy offering people local produce
- We create an alternative to the supermarket duopoly
- We create a culture and community around local food
Food for Alice has been operating for 3 years now and still trying to find the best way to create a local food movement in Alice Springs. Contact us for more information, or to put your hand up for volunteering.
